Our client, a premier national healthcare provider, is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join their Cloud Infrastructure team. You will work closely with Kubernetes and Cloud Architects to onboard applications into AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) clusters and drive best practices around Infrastructure as Code, automation, and cloud-native security.
The ideal candidate has deep expertise deploying and managing EKS clusters in AWS (5+ years), along with strong hands-on experience in Terraform for infrastructure automation.
Job Responsibilities
Architect, deploy, and manage EKS clusters on AWS, ensuring scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform to manage cloud resources across multiple environments.
Collaborate with application and platform engineering teams to modernize workloads and migrate monolithic applications into cloud-native, containerized microservices.
Implement and refine observability solutions (monitoring, logging, alerting) to ensure high availability and performance of cloud infrastructure.
Develop and enforce cloud security best practices, including IAM, networking, secrets management, and container security.
Drive automation initiatives to improve CI/CD pipelines and reduce operational overhead.
Evaluate and recommend new AWS services, containerization strategies, and IaC patterns to improve cloud efficiency and developer productivity.
Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of automation, DevOps, and continuous learning.
Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on Kubernetes/EKS experience (deploying, scaling, and securing clusters in AWS).
Expertise in Terraform for IaC; experience creating reusable modules and managing state in enterprise environments.
Strong background in AWS cloud services (VPC, IAM, ECR, ALB/NLB, Route53, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, etc.).
Proven experience modernizing applications from monoliths to microservices/cloud-native architectures.
Familiarity with load balancing, networking, and container orchestration best practices.
Strong knowledge of security controls for AWS and Kubernetes (RBAC, network policies, secrets management, etc.).
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Bonus: experience with healthcare, highly regulated industries, or payment systems.
