Location: Locations: (One role in Chicago/ Michigan) and 2nd position in Florida, or Georgia regions.
Term: Full-time, Direct hire. 

Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced CNC Field Service Technician to join their team. This role involves up to 100% travel to customer facilities, providing advanced troubleshooting and repair of CNC machine tools, including 5-axis machines, mills, and lathes. You will play a key role in ensuring the functionality and performance of machine tools while working in a dynamic environment that values expertise and adaptability. Job Duties:

  • Dismantle and prepare machines for shipment.
  • Perform machine leveling and alignment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair major machine tool problems, including 5-axis machines, mills, and lathes.
  • Disassemble, repair, and rebuild machine tool sub-assemblies and assemblies.
  • Organize and tag components for reassembly.
  • Replace or repair damaged components.
  • Conduct first-time power-up and troubleshooting of machines.
  • Perform servo system tuning and advanced troubleshooting of electronic circuitry.
  • Train customers on CNC control system operations.
  • Report activities and expenses timely and accurately.
  • Travel frequently to customer facilities, often on short notice.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Adapt to diverse environments, working with various machine types and customer needs.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Authorization to work in the United States (U.S. citizenship required)
  • Willingness to travel up to 100%.
  • 5+ years of experience in machine tool field service.
  • Advanced knowledge of machine tools and terminology, including troubleshooting 5-axis machines, mills, and lathes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse equipment rather than staying on the same machine or with the same company for extended periods unless project-based.
  • Associate degree in electronic engineering or related field (experience may substitute).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and components.
  • Intermediate parametric programming and ladder logic knowledge.
  • Excellent interpersonal and computer skills.
  • Advanced troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Experience with Renishaw Ballbar and Laser Calibration equipment.
  • Ability to scrape and fit machine tool components.
  • Working knowledge of applications processes and programming.
  • Background in CNC retrofitting or unique machine builds.
